Introduction and other versions

YousableTubeFix is a Greasemonkey script for Gecko browsers (like Firefox) to enhance the YouTube video sharing site. A port for Opera users is available here

If you find YousableTubeFix useful, you can make a donation here -->

Features

  • Download the video as FLV, MP4 or High Quality FLV: click in the video title or use the download links in the right column1
  • Resize the video manually and automatically
  • Remove ads and any unwanted YouTube section; like the character counter, video annotations and captions, Also Watching Now, Embed, etc...
  • Change the video format to the standard Low Quality FLV, MP4 or High Quality FLV, manually or automatically. The video formats availability is autodetected and the script can change to the best available video format automatically
  • Automatically expand the video description, category, tags and URL information. The collapse links can be removed if desired
  • Display all comments in the video page (up to 500 comments)
  • Prevent only video autoplay, or both video autoplay and autodownload substituting the player with a thumbnail until it is clicked
  • Change the Flash Player Quality attribute to a lower one to play the video with less CPU use
  • Automatically bypass YouTube age verification page for logged in users
  • Autocheck for script updates once a day

Note 1: The file you get is the video file in the format you have chosen in the Video Format select (FLV or MP4). To reproduce it, you have to rename it to videoname.flv or videoname.mp4 and use a capable player like VLC

Configuration

The script can be configured with "YousableTubeFix configuration" menu command (under "Tools" / "Greasemonkey" / "User Script Commands"), available when browsing a YouTube page

Common problems and known bugs

The YousableTubeFix configuration menu command is only present when browsing a YouTube page. You have to be in a YouTube page to activate it

The YousableTubeFix configuration dialog may not sometimes appear, even after activating the menu command. To solve that, reload the page and try again, it'll work then. This is a known bug

The player can shown a "This video is no longer available" message with HD video qualities, specially with the H264 video format, if some versions of Flash Player 10 beta is installed. This seems to be a bug of the YouTube player or Flash itself. To solve it, update to Flash Player 10 final version or, if that doesn't work, uninstall Flash Player 10 beta and install Flash Player 9

Notes

If you YousableTubeFix doesn't work as expected, disable any other Greasemonkey YouTube scripts you may have installed. The script assumes it is working in an unmodified YouTube page

This script was based on ETcelera's YousableTube. It has been now fixed for the current YouTube.com design and almost completely rewritten. Many more features had been added
